We didn’t just wake up one day and decide to start cleaning boats - this has been a long time coming. We both grew up on the South Coast, then crossed paths during a summer season in the Med where one was an instructor and the other a bosun. That winter, George R got involved in the renovation of a famous old motorboat, and came up with the suggestion that the boys should go in on it together. A business was born.

The ethos behind My Boat is Shinier Than Yours is simple: we take our craftsmanship incredibly seriously, but ourselves not so much. We treat every vessel like our own, delivering a mirror-like finish and top-tier servicing that will make all your boat-owning friends just a little bit jealous.

Meet the Georges

A person with curly hair is leaning over the side of a boat, wearing black clothes and white socks, holding onto a railing and a yellow device, with water below. There are objects on the boat deck, including an orange item and a water bottle.

George Readwin

Our founder brings hands‑on mastery from fiberglass repairs in the Peloponnese to winch servicing in Lefkada and precision polishing in Lymington. George has a wealth of marine experience and is entering his fifth year working on boats. Whether he’s hanging upside down to get the final pass of polish or scrubbing the foredeck, George does it all with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to using the correct processes.

George Walton

Raised on boats, George has lived, worked, cruised and raced on the water for most of his life. He’s sailed in the Med, in the Caribbean, in Northern Europe, and in the UK. He has a keen eye for detail, and a very customer-focussed approach to this new business. When ‘on the tools’, Georges prides himself on precision and consistency, treating every task the same - whether he is varnishing, polishing, or detailing.
